Nausea While Pregnant

This is for all my pregnant moms who might be experiencing some nausea in the first or even second trimester –it is no fun! But guess what? You DON’T have to have all this nausea! Amazing, right?

Let’s talk about what’s happening to your body, especially in the first and second trimesters. Your liver and gallbladder are processing a lot of things. First, they are processing everything in your body. Now, they are processing everything in your developing baby’s body, and on top of that, they have all of these hormones to deal with, which means things can get a bit congested.

We want to make sure we really support the liver and gallbladder during pregnancy. Now, we won’t be detoxing, but we can support each for optimal function.

Here are few helpful tips to give your liver and gallbladder some love: (PS - This info is helpful for the non-pregnant mama, too!)

  •  Eat beets! - Beets, beet juice, and beet greens all cleanse the blood. (I toss them in a smoothie –it’s amazing!)

  • Drink warm lemon water - first thing when you wake up (can also do it before bed for extra support)

  • Eat cruciferous veggies such as artichoke and asparagus - they feed the liver!

  • Make homemade bread or enjoy @baseculture breads for healthy carb alternatives (vs. the processed breads)

  • Support your body with whole food based supplements that are great for pregnancy and the liver
